We are currently seeking speakers of male, native speakers of Southern British English in/around London to participate in an experiment. Participants will need to attend two sessions (spaced at least two weeks apart), in which you will complete a simple, interactive speech production task while we record the audio of your speech. During recording, you will be asked to hold a device that places a plate between the upper lip and the nose, and in some parts will be played noise through headphones.
To be eligible to participate, you should (i) be a male, native speaker of Southern British English (i.e., have a southern accent), (ii) be aged between 18 and 30 years, (iii) have no speech, language or hearing difficulties, and (iv) not be raised or fluent in languages other than English.
The experiment will take place at the recording booths at UCL in Chandler House (2 Wakefield Street, WC1N 1PF; near King's Cross and Russell Square stations). Each session is expected to last between 1 and 1.5 hours. You will receive £9/hour (£13.50 per session) as payment for your time.
Please contact Dr Justin Lo (justin.lo@ucl.ac.uk) if you are interested or have any queries about the study.
